Cookie Policy

Which cookies and similar technologies PlainSignage uses on plainsignage.com and console.plainsignage.com, why, for how long, and how our cookieless analytics work.

Este documento está disponible en inglés y neerlandés; a continuación se muestra la versión inglesa, que es la jurídicamente vinculante. La versión neerlandesa está en plainsignage.com/nl.

PlainSignage uses as few cookies as possible. Our website statistics are cookieless — we host the open-source tool Umami ourselves and it stores no personal data — so we can measure visits without asking you to accept tracking. Cookies are used only for strictly necessary functions and, if you allow it, for embedded media from third parties. This policy lists every cookie and similar technology in use.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device. Similar technologies include localStorage and sessionStorage in your browser. Under Dutch law (Telecommunications Act art. 11.7a) and the GDPR, cookies that are strictly necessary or that have no or minimal impact on privacy may be placed without consent; all other cookies require your prior consent.

3. Anonymous statistics (cookieless, opt-out available)

We use Umami, self-hosted at stats.plainsignage.com in the EU, to count visits to plainsignage.com. Umami sets no cookies and no identifiers in storage. It records the page URL, referrer, browser and OS family, screen size, language and country, and counts unique visitors with a one-way hash of IP address, user agent and a daily rotating salt. IP addresses are not stored. No data is shared with third parties. Because this has no meaningful impact on your privacy and uses no cookies, it runs before you make a choice in the banner.

You can still opt out: switch off "Anonymous statistics" in the banner or under "Cookie settings" in the footer. Your browser then stores the value umami.disabled in localStorage and no page views are sent. We also respect the Do-Not-Track browser setting. The console at console.plainsignage.com does not use analytics.

5. Managing your choices

Open "Cookie settings" in the footer of any page to change your choices at any time. You can also delete cookies in your browser settings; the banner will then appear again on your next visit. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent the console from keeping you logged in.

6. Changes

When we add or remove cookies we update this page and, if a new consent category is introduced, ask for your choice again. Questions: info@plainsignage.com.
