Digital signage on a Raspberry Pi

A Raspberry Pi 4 or 5 running Chromium in kiosk mode is a solid, fanless signage player. Point it at the browser player, pair with the code and let it boot straight into your content.

Set-up steps

  1. 1Install Raspberry Pi OS and Chromium
  2. 2Create an autostart entry that launches Chromium in kiosk mode with console.plainsignage.com/play
  3. 3Pair the screen with the code shown
  4. 4Publish from the console

Good to know

Use a Pi 4 with 2 GB or more (or a Pi 5) for smooth video; disable screen blanking in the OS.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a dedicated Pi image?

Not yet — the browser player in Chromium kiosk mode is the supported way. A sample autostart line is in the help center.

Can it play 4K video?

A Pi 5 handles Full HD video well; 4K depends on the codec and is best left to Android TV hardware.
